CLA would greatly appreciate your prayers for the following prayer requests :

September 1 (Tuesday)
CLA gives thanks for the successful completion of the 5th CLA National Conference in Mumbai from August 14-16.  Praise God for all the participants and speakers. Pray that the network built would bear fruit in the years ahead. 

September 2 (Wednesday)
Karnataka police on August 11 arrested nine Christians on charges of ‘forceful’ conversion in Dharwad, Karnataka after extremists from the Ram Sena attacked an After School Club Leaders Training Program (ASCLTP). The mob beat the Christians and took Bibles, mobile phones and literature from them. The ASCLTP was attended by about 75 Christians from various district of northern Karnataka.  Pray that the Christians arrested will be absolved of the charges levied against them.

September 3 (Thursday)
According to a 2007 survey by Transparency International , 77 per cent of Indians see the judiciary as corrupt. Pray for greater transparency and accountability among the legal faternity.  

September 4 (Friday)
Pray for advocacy groups as they meet and deliberate on the Communal Violence Bill. Pray especially that the provisions included in the Bill would enable the effective prevention of communal violence in an area and for the effective control of communal violence.

September 5 (Saturday)
Pray for Advocates Africa Conference starting today in Adis Abba. Pray for all the participants as they travel for the conference. Pray also for the deliberation that they would result in better advocacy on the issue of religious liberty and human rights.

September 6 (Sunday)
From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked - Luke 12:48b

September 7  (Monday)
Pray for CLA as the structure of the organization undergoes a change to provide for better fulfillment of the vision. Pray for unity of hearts and discernment as CLA works out the various details.

September 8 (Tuesday)
CLA praises God for all those who support CLA through their resources whether of time or finances or skills. Remember in pray CLA’s donors and members and thank God for their generosity.

September 9 (Wednesday)
On August 7 in Haveri, Karnataka about 25 extremists allegedly from the Bajrang Dal attacked Pastor Ajit Kumar of Every Home Crusade, accused him of forceful conversion, and threatened to beat him up if he continues with his ministry. Pray for protection for the Christians in Karnataka.

September 10 (Thursday)
Pray for God’s will in the area of justice and law-enforcement and for protection of the innocent from crime and injustice. Pray also for proper separation and accountability of judicial, executive and legislative arms of government.

September 11 (Friday)
Many witnesses in the communal violence cases in Kandhamal, Orissa complain about threats to their life and property. Pray for their safety and also for district authorities to take necessary steps to ensure their protection .

September 12 (Saturday)
Pray for Christian lawyers as they gather in Delhi and Kolkata for a time of fellowship, prayer and discussion today.  Pray for strong and effective networks to be built in these cities

September 13 (Sunday)
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds — Hebrews 10:24

September 14 (Monday)
Pray for all the activities that CLA has planned for the year ahead, especially the trainings for Christian workers in various parts of the country and the legal aid cells  being established in association with Justice Ventures International.

September 15 (Tuesday)
Praise God for the convictions given in two of the cases in Kandhamal, Orissa. Pray especially for the four of the cases where there have been acquittals. Pray that the perpetrators of the violence would be brought to justice.

September 16 (Wednesday)
Pray for Christians in Pakistan who have suffered violent attacks against the community in the recent past. Pray for Center for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement as they provide legal assistance to the victims of the communal violence.

September 17 (Thursday)
Pray for greater personal accountability. Pray for the developing of  networks of Christians in the legal professionals which would provide opportunities for fellowship and spiritual accountability.

September 18 (Friday)
Please continue to remember in prayer the lawyers assisting CLA in Orissa. Pray especially for Suresh Kumar, Mrutunjaya Nayak, Hitesh Kumar, Raj Kishore Pradahn, Manoj Nayak, Amor Nayak, Rama Rao, Fr Divya, B. D. Das and Pratap Chhinchani

September 19 (Saturday)
Remember in prayer law colleges and law students across India. Pray especially also for young law students associated with CLA that they would have better opportunities for internship and increased dedication to the pursuit of justice.

September 20 (Sunday)
So then each of us shall give account of himself to God — Romans 14:12

September 21 (Monday)
Pray for  CLA chapters  which are in the process of being formed in the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Nagaland. Pray for the advocates who provide leadership to the chapters.

September 22 (Tuesday)
Praise God  for the safety of Christians in Orissa after the first death anniversary of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati on August 23. Continue to pray for peace to prevail in region.

September 23 (Wednesday)
A mob of about 40 Hindu extremists allegedly from Dharam Sena attacked Sneh Sadan Institute (Home of Love) run by the Christians on July 26 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The extremists, shouting anti-Christians tried to enter the institute run by the Methodist Church, accusing the institute manager of forceful conversion and filed a complaint against her prior to the attack. Please pray for the church in MP.

September 24 (Thursday)
Remember in prayer those in leadership in the center and state government. Pray for that God’s sovereignty to be established and visible over our nation. May His Kingdom come and Will be done.

September 25 (Friday)
Pray for CLA’s partnership with VIVA, a network of agencies working in the area of child rights, that it would result effective advocacy for a consolidated Act  to protect children from sexual violence. 

September 26 (Saturday)
Pray for the Advocates Asia conference being organized in Malaysia tentatively this year in October. Pray for Min Choon Lee and the team as they work to bring together lawyers from across Asia.

September 27 (Sunday)
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.—Hebrews 10:25

September 28 (Monday)
Remember in prayer CLA Central Council members Robin David, Pratap Chhinchani, Abraham Pattiyani, W.P. Massey, Waris Gill, Lansinglu Rongmei, A. K. George, Vipin Benjamin, Manoj George, Nova Bethania, Santosh Verma, Ratan Singh, Richard Howell, B.D. Das and Tehmina Arora as they give leadership to CLA.

September 29 (Tuesday)
Praise God for the numerous networks of Christian legal professionals across the globe. Pray that these networks would be a source of encouragement to Christians in the legal profession and result in the more sustained advocacy on human right issues.

September 30 (Wednesday)
Continue to pray for Maryam Rustampoor, 27, and Marzieh Amirizadeh, 30 who were arrested for converting to Islam in Iran on March 2. The two young Iranian women may face the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity have told the court that they will not abandon their faith in Christ, despite harsh treatment in one of Iran’s most notorious prisons.
